A new dating rule has been set by Sofia Vergara.
According to the 51-year-old actress Sofía Vergara, she will not date a man who is more than two years younger than her if she appears on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Wednesday night.
When the actress admitted this, she was discussing how Puerto Rican musician Bad Bunny had named her in his track, “Monaco.” When Vergara learned of the rapper’s shout-out from 29 years ago, she threw her phone on the ground. Her guest Alexia Nepola said, “And by the way, he’s single right now!”
“Would you ever date him?” she was asked by the Real Housewives of Miami star.
“Well, let’s not go crazy, let’s not go crazy. Compared to my son Manolo, he is much younger. She said that her son is 32 years old, which is the same age as her ex-husband Joe Gonzalez, with whom she shares a son.
“Is that the rule? They can’t be younger than your son?” asked host Cohen, 56.
Nepola, also 56, agreed and added, “For me, that’s always been that I’ve always had that rule.”
But the Griselda star took it a step further: “To me, they can’t be younger than 50. I’m 51.”
“Really?” asked Cohen.
“Okay, 49,” she clarified, laughing, “I’m intelligent.”
“Wow, I’m screwed by that rule,” he joked.
Vergara, whose estranged husband Joe Manganiello is 47 years old, shed further light on Bad Bunny name-checking her on WWHL and revealed that the shout-out was a “surprise.”
“I didn’t know he would do it,” admitted the Modern Family alum. “It was super exciting. I love him.”
On ‘Monaco,’ a track which appears on Bad Bunny’s latest studio album, Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Maana, he sings about Sofia Vergara, who is beautiful, but she is even more beautiful in person.”
Vergara responded to the singer showing his love for her on Instagram back in October. She shared a clip from the music video with the caption, “You’re more beautiful @badbunnypr.”
This past week, during an interview with a Spanish newspaper El Pas, Vergara spoke candidly about the split she had with Manganiello and revealed that they were not on the same page about expanding their family when they decided to get married.
Interestingly, she explained that the reason for their divorce was that my husband was younger; he wanted to have children and I didn’t want to be an old mother.
There is no way I want to do that anymore because I feel it isn’t fair to the baby. I respect those who do it, but it’s not for me anymore.”
As a mother, she said, “I was ready to be a grandmother as soon as I had my son at 19, who is now 32 years old,” she said. It will be necessary for him to bring his children along with him if love comes along.
“I’m almost in menopause; it’s the natural way of things,” she added. “When my son becomes a dad, let him bring the baby to me for a while, and then I’ll give it back to him and go on with my life; that’s what I have to do.”
Several dinner dates have been spotted between Vergara and orthopedic surgeon Justin Saliman over the past few months.
