Toyota may offer plug-in electric Tacoma and Tundra SUVs

Toyota Motor is thinking about adding more trucks to its U.S. range. The-

Tacoma and Tundra pickups could become electric or hybrid models.

The company is looking at what the market wants and what the government requires to help it make a choice.

Jack Hollis from Toyota, talked about the chance of expanding the truck lineup, which means-

the company is open to adding new models like small trucks.

Toyota wants to make more electric vehicles (EVs), like a battery-electric midsize truck.

They have already said they will spend $1.3 billion in a Kentucky plant to make an electric SUV.

Toyota is also making an electric version of the Hilux pickup for markets around the world,

but it's not clear when it will be available in the United States.

Battery-electric (BEV) and plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) choices are being thought about by the company for the Tacoma and Tundra.

There are five expensive electric pickup trucks on the market in the U.S. right now, but there aren't any plug-in hybrids yet.

Because EVs aren't selling very well and there are new rules about pollution, Toyota and other-

automakers are rethinking their car strategies. They are thinking about adding both EVs and hybrids to their future range.
